Besides me, is anyone else looking forward to the summer Olympics?
28 sports in 16 days, bound to be something for eveyrone.

The problem I have with the Olympics is too much choice. There are always about 6 different events going on at the same time and I find it hard to decide which ones to watch.

Yes. That was a rude wake up call this morning.
"Russian Prime Minister" Vladimir Putin is in Beijing for the opening ceremony, looks like he might be rushing back to lead his nation to war.

The problem I have with the Olympics is too much choice. There are always about 6 different events going on at the same time and I find it hard to decide which ones to watch.

I have 3 recorders set up and have too pick and chose the events to watch.The modern Olympics feel more like a multi-channel digital sports package intended for the record 2 channels at once DVR age, rather than live events to be attended. I like the options but miss the familiarity smaller competitions have.

Controversy has hounded the modern Olympics the whole of the 20th century. Choosing China guaranteed the tradition would continue.
I love the ideals and traditions the Olympics embody, even given the imperfections we have recreating the spirit of the games I always look forward to the summer gamers with anticipation.

The pictograms chosen for the Chinese Olympics are pretty interesting.

The athletics (or track and field as some people call it) is normally the most important part of the games for me. I like the hockey too. And I'll watch lots of the other sports that are not normally on television.

London's gonna have a hard time topping that in '12, given the British inability to do anything right and the general aura of crapness that surrounds the country. I remember Jack Dee during the Sydney Olympics commenting on the opening ceremony there and trying to imagine the same thing happening in London, and saying that all he could see were images of Timmy Mallett (complete with cheesy comedy sound effects).

Already tragedy of a more personal nature struck in China. Ironic but after all the human rights atrocities what will outrage American’s sense of right and wrong will be a random stabbing. I’m not unsympathetic to the victims and their family but in the last 6 months whats happened citizens of China makes what happened to them seems the least tragic.

People lost their homes so that Olympic venues and fancy hotels they’ll not be allowed near can be built.

I watched dressage with my daughter last night she LOVED it. Nobody else was up with us watching it so I loved it too. Couldn’t care less about the prancing ponies but the time with her would worth 10 hours of weird horse sports
Boy does she want a horse in the worst way! Trading her brothers for one wouldn’t be going to far I suspect

I was once watching the Olympics with my father and he pointed out one of the chinese girls looks like the alien from Close Encounters. Other than, I really don't care about the Olympics, I don't see what's so special.

Did anyone see the women's gymnastics. Nastia Liukin, wow!
I've never seen anybody as graceful as she is. I think her arms and legs a longer than most of the other gymnasts i've seen. Her parallel bars and final routine were almost a dance. She got the gold adn the other (shorter) american got the sliver. Wonderful performance!!

Bella Lugosi was going nuts cheering in the press room, evne went was far as huggin Bob Costas.
