So he fights like Thunderball
So he fights like Thunderball
I'm sure many of you will be aware of the new book about the legal battles surrounding Thunderball. The author gives a precis of it in this article from today's Sunday Times

Interesting read. I always got the impression that McClory was a bit of a tosser. Reading this proves it, but Fleming doesn't come out particularly well either.
I understand his battle with Fleming, but how he had the nerve to try and take EON to court beats me. He didn't lay out the blueprint for the Bond films with Thunderball (which was always one of the weakest Bond novels anyway, IMO). Fleming wrote the blueprint with Goldfinger, which the film follows closely, and this was written before TB.
I'm glad he eventually ended up with no money.

Jack Whittingham is the guy I feel most sorry for. Seems like he got shafted by both sides. The Sweeney wrote:Interesting read. I always got the impression that McClory was a bit of a tosser. Reading this proves it, but Fleming doesn't come out particularly well either.

There is another part of the story, which I hope the books goes in to.
McClory’s script of Thunderball was (allegedly) used in the foundation of the Broccoli's Bond series. In fact many key elements were supposedly lifted from it.
Sean said the first 007 scrip he read was not Dr No rather Thunderball.
