Fox classics have been playing the Bond films as part of a marathon these past few weeks.
We're upto TSWLM, though they're not showing the Brosnan films.
Guess they wouldn't be able to call them classics otherwise.

Pierce's films still command decent royalties for replay, the others do better with package deals.

Bond expected to talk on Fox Classics

Australia's Fox Classics will air the first 16 James Bond films on basic cable for the first time anywhere in the world, after securing the TV rights in what it is billing as "a landmark deal."

Fox Classics will launch its Bond. Classic Bond. season on August 31, screening two Bond movies each Sunday night for eight weeks, running chronologically through the titles, from 1962's Dr No to 1989's Licence To Kill.

The channel will also air Roger Moore: Classic Bond, an exclusive, one-off interview with the third actor to play the character, on September 28, to tie in with the season.

Penny Win, group channel manager for W. and Fox Classics, said: "For Fox Classics to be the first basic cable channel in the world to air these 16 iconic Bond movies is a fabulous opportunity to fly the flag high.

"We'll be rolling out the full campaign over the next six months, and for the first time Fox Classics is really embracing on-air interactive with these movies."

Sony Pictures International and MGM hold the rights to the Bond movies.

Maybe they're not old enough to be considered "classics" (I doubt it has anything to do with quality if AVTAK and TMWTGG are in there). Or maybe Fox Classics just doesn't have the rights to show them.

As Blowfed said, they may cost a bit more to show. Brosnan's films are normally shown in prime time slots on one of the main TV stations in the UK (ITV1 of course) whearas the others are shown in the afternoon.

This is because Brosnan's Bonds are newer, and refelct the popularity of his Bond films.

They're also not regarded as classics of the series...yet!
Though in years to come, maybe GE could make the list.

It's probably broken down by decades. A deal that goes up to the 1990s but not beyond. Wouldn't matter who it was.
Obviously it not organized by "classics" because there are plenty in between 1962 and 1989 that don't qualify.
TLD? AVTAK? not classics. But are part of the Classic series
