Even Roger and Brosnan seemed to make more films while they were Bond than DC. Craig doesn't really seem to do anything else lately.

Even though he doesn't have to, but DC should knock on Abrams' door for a Trek role.James wrote:Even Roger and Brosnan seemed to make more films while they were Bond than DC. Craig doesn't really seem to do anything else lately.

Craig is scheduled to start filming "Monuments Men" next month. With George Clooney directing and starring and Matt Damon also starring and with the movie coming out in December, it looks like Oscar bait. I believe Craig plays a Nazi.James wrote:Even Roger and Brosnan seemed to make more films while they were Bond than DC. Craig doesn't really seem to do anything else lately.
That'll be his fourteenth film since Casino Royale. Seems like he's keeping busy. It also appears that Sony picked up the option for The Girl Who With Fire and with another possible "Girl" sequel and with Bond 24 and 25 it appears that Daniel's biggest problem will be finding time for them all, he's in such high demand.

Not as high as he was after CR, but before he appeared in a string of flops. There's no guarantee that he will appear in the other two Millennium films, given that Sony is trying to cut costs following the failure of the first film. The Monuments Men sounds like an indie. Any idea of the budget?

I'm not so sure about how many films he had since CR, some were filmed before and the release held.

"Something north of $50 million." Clooney was quoted as saying you can't do the Invasion of Normandy on a small budget.Kristatos wrote:Gala Brand wrote: That'll be his fourteenth film since Casino Royale. I wouldn't call TGWTDT a failure. It did average for a David Fincher film. A film with a hard R is going to have a limited upside.

I think he has only made 7 movies since CR not counting Bond, shorts/PSAs, or video games.

TGWTDT didn't make money or win awards. It wasn't a flop as such, it just wast a hit either.

It had a production budget of $90 million and made $232 million worldwide. That's not a good return on investment.Blowfeld wrote:TGWTDT didn't make money or win awards. It wasn't a flop as such, it just wast a hit either.

No in that regard I'd have to say it failed. As a movie in general it was not as bad as Golden Compass or Cowboys, in that nobody in particular cared for them.Kristatos wrote:It had a production budget of $90 million and made $232 million worldwide. According to Wikipedia, Craig has made the following:Blowfeld wrote:I think he has only made 7 movies since CR not counting Bond, shorts/PSAs, or video games.
2006 Casino Royale
2006 Infamous
2006 Renaissance
2007 The Invasion
2007 The Golden Compass
2008 Flashbacks of a Fool
2008 Quantum of Solace
2008 Defiance
2011 Cowboys & Aliens
2011 Dream House
2011 The Adventures of Tintin
2011 The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
2012 Skyfall
Plus Monuments Men makes 14 by my count.
Re: Skyfall at the US box office.
But that only shows the year of release. I think some of those were made before CR and released on the back of his new found fame.

Re: Skyfall at the US box office.
First new film for Daniel after CR was Golden Compass. From what Daniel himself said he spent most of 2005 going to the gym, late 2005 all of 2006 he was Barbara's personal play thing
I think he is picky about his roles, and he demands a lot of money to bring his 'star power' to a project.

Correct. And you can take out QoS and Skyfall too because I was talking about his work outside the franchise. Some real classics there though. Flashbacks of a Fool. Dream House. The Invasion. A remarkable body of work. I saw The Secret of the Unicorn at Christmas by the way and Craig was TERRIBLE as the villain. I'm a huge Tintin fan but I didn't care for the film at all.Blowfeld wrote:I'm not so sure about how many films he had since CR, some were filmed before and the release held.

Re: Skyfall at the US box office.
Other than Layer Cake and Munich, I've yet to see a film outside of Bond that I like DC in. I think he is one of those actors who likes to take on offbeat, challenging roles, often in low budget films, but has the luxury of a guaranteed income with Bond to allow him to do just that. He doesn't strike me as an actor desperate for Hollywood star status, even though he is getting that now with Bond.James wrote:Correct. Re: Skyfall at the US box office.
Of the 7 outside of Bond 3 were pretty big attempts to launch trilogies. Dream House wasn't cheap either.
I will not say they sucked because Craig was in them but,,,,, his managers should be fired.

Craig's a very good actor within a very limited range. Unfortunately, he takes parts that he's not really suited to play like Blomquist in TGWTDT. That character is very passive, which plays against what Craig does well. I think he was attracted to the role because it was a David Fincher movie and he wants to be associated with Hollywood's elite.
OTOH I think he'll make an excellent Nazi.

Tomb Raider was watchable but I don't think Craig enjoyed that one.
Bring back Bond!
