Daniel Craig is a Badass 007

Post by sshoosh »

Skyfall has released a first official trailer online, in which Daniel Craig’s Bond appears more grizzled, non-nonsense and generally badass than ever before.

Dealings with the plot itself are restricted to a single question and answer session between Bond and an MI6 psychologist. Giving glib, one-word answers to trigger-words like “agent” and “gun”, 007 is stopped in his tracks by the mention of the word “Skyfall”.

Craig is the best Bond, he is powerful on-screen and grabs your attention with every facial expression he makes. :gun:

He does have the full Range from A to, well, ..... A

as for a Badass Bond I'd much rather have,

A witty, suave, Intelligent Agent, Like we used to get rather than a Badass Thug who looks more like
a door Bouncer than a secret agent.
Still each to their own.

Craig's as unintelligent as they come, with the class of a football hooligan, Moore may've had some corny lines but that's part and parcel of bond (or used to be) now it's just an arthouse flick with bond having psychological problems and needing m to hold his hand or give him a slap when he does something wrong.

The last film to hype Me up like the great bond films of old was the avengers, skyfall looks like a running joke, something that should've been released on april fools day.

I used to think craig was good as an actor in layer cake and defiance but he can't use that kind of character in bond, if babs wasn't so besotted with him he wouldn't be here.

It's your opinion and that's cool but I'll never look at craig as badass, tony stark ie Robert Downey Junior has the badass quirks of the real bond, now bond is merely bournes english cousin now, the villains are just as dull and the bond women tbh aren't that hot anymore & where's the escapism gone in bond if I want reality I'll go outside.
Bond....James bond....Rest in peace (1964-2002)

I see you didn't argue that Craig's Bond was Suave and witty
I have to agree Bond is now just a Bourne Clone. :( Ironman is the closest
we've got to Bond at the Moment. Even the Dark Night threw in a few
one-liners and was all the better for it.

you got me on the sauveness angle, craig would need to take some lessons from his predecessors.

Thunderpussy, next you will be telling me George Clooney would make a better 007.

SORRY Didn't welcome you on board sshoosh.

Clooney is too old looking for Bond ( One of Craig's many faults as well )
Although the slip in standards in the Bond series is not all his fault.
He was simply Miscast ( other actors have been offered Bond and turned it down as they could see it was not for them ).
and the dropping of many minor ( But Important characters ) along with an unhealthy obsession with arthouse Directors.
I don't think anyone would want an over the top jokey Bond, But for Fu*k sake give him a few One-liners. Other movie makers
are doing it just look at the success of Ironman, the Avengers, x-men Batman etc. All big fun movies they all have their moments
of action, excitement, action, pathos But then to lighten the violent scenes, They slip in a killer one-liner or gag ( which is how
the Bond films used to be, and copied by many )
Mabey for some New to Bond this is what they expect and are happy to go with it, So I'm happy to be the grumpy old Git in the back
pointing out how Pretentious and Full of themselves they're getting.
Most people think H Cavill would of been a Great Bond but as I thinbk he's begining to have success on his own He might not need Bond to help
his career, I like M Fassbender but by the Time Craig stops ( Which will be a long time, as his other work flopps with audiences ) he'll be too old.

Although Old George would make a Fine suave villain. :D

Another person thinks Craig Just isn't Bond Material,

Dr Tin Stanley in The Telegraph
Some nice quotes,

The trailer for the new Bond movie Skyfall has landed – and it looks rubbish

The rot set in with the casting of Daniel Craig. Things had been going a little haywire since

But Craig was all wrong for the part and signalled the intention of the moviemakers to turn Bond into Raymond Chandler without the laughs.

But really, any Bond film with Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton or Brosnan is fine.

Tim Stanley's article is classic, and right on the money! A link to it ought to be pasted somewhere by the mods! I think the comment about the Craig Bond series being "violent feminine porn" is spot on, and grasps the weird conjunction in these movies between the emo moments and the mindlessly brutal violence. It also explains why I have yet to find a woman who likes Craig as Bond, when I can find plenty who like Connery, Moore and Brosnan. Women like the classic Bonds because they are witty. Women may briefly lust after Craig because he is presented as a sex object (hell, someone made a Daniel Craig popsicle back in 2006). They don't like him anymore then most people like Halle Berry in DAD. They just admire the scenary, and then move on.
"For a moment Bond looked up into two glittering eyes behind a narrow black mask. There was an impression of a crag-like face under a hat brim, the collar of a fawn mackintosh." - Ian Fleming, Casino Royale

I find it impossible to think of Craig as badass when he pouts so much. Robert Mitchum, Lee Marvin etc... they could play badass characters. Craig, I think, can not.

That's a strange question. He's not a good actor like the Bonds, so I'd be weirded out.

If not, you might as well have this man as Bond even though he's not with us anymore.

I have no problem with pro-Craigs. But when they're forceful and forcing their opinion, then I have a problem with it.
