I wonder why they didn't build up beyond more as a 50th anniversary film.
Trek is celibates their 50th with more dignity than bond did, then again they are bond in name only as only now. Trek is still trying to be trek .

I think the anniversary celebrations are more focused on the launch of the new TV series. With the way Hollywood works, it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't sure that the release date of Beyond would fall within the anniversary year.

the pushed the tv series off again later next year which is not the 50th, the really should of played up Beyond more as a celebration of trek .Kristatos wrote:I think the anniversary celebrations are more focused on the launch of the new TV series. Look at Bond's 50th year anniversary, and compare that to Trek's 50th. Notice something different.Omega wrote:the pushed the tv series off again later next year which is not the 50th, the really should of played up Beyond more as a celebration of trek .Kristatos wrote:I think the anniversary celebrations are more focused on the launch of the new TV series. Yes. The movie released in Star Trek's 50th anniversary year wasn't shite.

Not sure where he is going with this.
The Star Trek movie tried to be Trek and bond was a mix of home alone
The tv series ain't happening this year so .. the movies are the only comparisons I can think of

Re: Star Trek turns the Big 5-0
I think FBF is talking about the massive amount of promotion that Bond's 50th got compared to Trek (Craig skydiving with Betty Windsor at the Olympics etc). He could also have used Doctor Who as an example. Both those golden jubilees felt like events, whereas Star Trek Beyond just felt like the release of any other Trek movie.Omega wrote:Not sure where he is going with this.

Yep, so he is agreeing with us.
Paramount must have thought the TV show would be their ace, or they forgot about the 50th. Bond kept shoving it down our throats all year long, starting the year before and continuing with the blu-ray release the year after the 50th.

Re: Star Trek turns the Big 5-0
Star Trek reboot wasn't being shove down into people's throat like DC's Bonds did. If anything, Trek is fluctuating.
