Craig still falls short
Craig still falls short
Though I agree with Sean Connery that Daniel Craig is "an interesting actor" I don't believe he is a very good James Bond. Thought not from the beginning.
Being a very good actor doesn't mean you can be a convincing Bond.
At the start I thought it entirely appropriate that Casino Royale was the first Bond film to be released through Columbia pictures, since this casting mistake was the greatest since Shemp was replaced by Joe Besser in "The Three Stooges", another Columbia coup.
Unfortunately Mr. Craig, to me, looks just like that marionette that was the star of "Thunderbirds Are Go." Amazed that the producers haven't been sued by Lord Grade.
I've often been heard to say that in a world in which Pierce Brosnan could be replaced as James Bond, nobody's job is safe.
I understand the quandry of being given the rights to the first film; wishing to restart the series, and needing a new Bond (this continuity problem, however, did not lead to the demise of Judi Dench).
Truth is, the producers had run out of ideas- as they had many times before- wanted to compete with Bourne and other action-heavy films- and decided they needed a new Bond.
Could have done better. Though I must admit Mr. Craig's films have been financially successful.
In this one he looks like he is aging less than gracefully so maybe, as he said in Casino Royale, "our mistake will be short-lived."
Please understand- not a matter of talent- a matter of style.

I agree entirely, it's not a question of talent. Craig is a very good actor, but he's all wrong for Bond. I sometimes find myself wondering if Hulk Hogan might be in line to take over after Craig.

Based on what's happening, we may have to go for the freaks & weirdos to take over as Bond.Jim wrote:I agree entirely, it's not a question of talent. Craig is a very good actor, but he's all wrong for Bond. I sometimes find myself wondering if Hulk Hogan might be in line to take over after Craig.

Re: Craig still falls short
Craig is not a good actor. im sorry, but, i have yet to see a good performance out of him in anything, he seems to have, at most, 4 facial expressions, "i iz an angry yob" (eyebrows down, mouth pouted)
"i iz raeping" (eyebrows up, grinning) "i iz a crying ninny" (eyebrows down, mouth pouted, tears) and "i iz board" (no movement what so ever) , Note the trollish meme lanquage is used as i feel it is appropraite for the cr-egg fans mindlessness. He often appears to be bored in his movies. he has no charisma what so ever, and about as much charm as Arnold Rimmer, drunk.
i find him, at best, the acting equivalent of a Diesel Toyota Avensis, Ugly to look at, Beige in performance, and less than reliable with a nature that is prone to media scandal. at worst, i find him unwatchably disgusting. not to mention the fact he is a total...utter...d-bag in real life.
he shouldnt be employed in acting in my opinion, as, i dont think he has the chops, i dont think he can act, and he has zero charisma. let alone being employed as Bourne..
hell come up short every time if you ask me, regardless of who he is playing, as he just isnt talented enough, come on, even Angelina "my face is made of stone" Jolie out acted him on that non cannonical film take on TR... what more proof do people need that he is hopeless.

Re: Craig still falls short
At what? 5' 10"..? I mean, they could have had Hugh Jackman or Clive Owen if they needed to replace Brosnan (who could have made at least one more). Superman gets Henry Cavill, the new Saint TV Series gets Adam Rayner and Bond is stuck with short-arse Craig? So not fair...!! Would make a better Hobbit... Do we really have to suffer another Bond with Craig? Apologies for the rant fellow fans but DC is the very first Bond actor I just don't like... Time to replace EON as well as Daniel Craig?

Even Chris Barrie would make a better Bond than Craig. What am I saying? The sad fact is, I think it could be true.Glorious England wrote:He often appears to be bored in his movies. he has no charisma what so ever, and about as much charm as Arnold Rimmer, drunk.

Re: Craig still falls short
I truly still don't know what is so special about this Daniel Craig. His act is wooden, just because he does some fake fight moves, which Liam Neeson will call it "skilled in dancing", he is regarded as a "tough dude". I mean, doesn't any of the opposing side understand what a good quality is? Heck, if one knows what a true grit is, wouldn't dare to call Craig's character "tough". If one looks forward to see real fight moves, real hand to hand combat, watch the SAS showing some of their fighting style on YouTube. That's how one gets to fight. And that Matt Damon Bourne is nothing but a garbage appreciated by street thugs.
On the emotional account, his character is unbalanced, so are all the post-911 "characters", that's what media prefers to see, nowadays. No balls to accept machismo as that is regarded as violent and "inhumane". Yawn. In a word, Craig doesn't know how to pick decency. The real "humane" act came from Timothy Dalton which Craig is nothing alike.

I think a lot of people assume that because I'm a celebrity, I wear suit of armor that protects me from these comments. But the truth is it hurts me. You all hurt me...

Welcome to the forum, Daniel. Though forgive me if I entertain the suspicion that it might not actually be you (the American spelling of "armor" was a bit of a giveaway, for starters).Daniel Craig wrote:I think a lot of people assume that because I'm a celebrity, I wear suit of armor that protects me from these comments. Re: Craig still falls short
I see that a lot of people who don't like Craig as Bond say he is a good actor to say something positive...for starters I don't think he is a good actor at all...a good actors means that a person can potray various characters convincingly.. when I saw him in that "girl with a dragon tatoo" movie he saw the same as he is in his Bond movies...there is absolutely no difference in a way he holds himself...
the worst thing is his fans like to say he is Fleming's Bond because he is tough...a coldblooded killer for starters doesn't equal a guy who is a thug... the key element of Bond is that he is a killer-but he hids kis killer instinct under his charm and sophistcation-that's what made Bond...Vladimir Klicko,a boxer,is tough but that doesn't make him a Bond material...seriously,arguments of Craig fanboys are beyond stupid and for me just show how much they understand Bond and the world he occupied.
