I'd say ST.
Only a small band of fans seems to have been turned off the Bondwagon.
Yet there appear to be countless fans and general members of the public that feel ST was a let down.

They were both divisive, but if you look at their respective box office numbers relative to their franchise, ST became the biggest grossing of the Star Trek movies, even when adjusted for inflation, whereas CR sold 2 million fewer tickets than its predecessor in the US alone.

I have one friend in facebook who is die-hard Trekkie, and he told me that ST is the worthless piece of crap he has ever seen and does not feel like a Trek movie. And he added that Nemesis and Insurrection were bad, but they're still Trek.

BTW, what's your view in ST Nash?

So far, ST makes money than any other reboots in the US market while CR makes more worldwide.

Both Trekkies and Bond fans can be pretty fanboyish. But IMO Bond fans are just that *little* bit more obsessive than Trekkies.

Umm...I don't ever recall hearing of any James Bond conventions where people go dressed in tuxedos.

There are ST purists out there who really hated the new Trek.

Star Trek did its own thing and was a real prequel so it was easier for me to accept although I prefer the established ST universe. CR was heralded as a reboot/prequel where we would see how a young Bond got started and picked up some of his more famous habits and traits. Not a bad idea but laughable with the actor they picked. Even a 45 year-old Roger Moore on debut in LALD looked more youthful than DC in Casino Royale.

With Spock and Nero traveled back in time from the TNG timeframe, ST is considered as a sequel.

They've spun these characters off into a different timeline though haven't they? I've only seen this when it came out so I might have to watch it on DVD soon to see how I feel second time around.

My impression was that ST recieved widespread praise. The reviews I read were exceptionally positive.

I have a hard time believing that there were only a small amount of Bond fans that have been turned off of the series. :?

Star Trek seemed to annoy Trek fans more. Star Trek was a film for people who were a little bored by the last few films and TV shows and non-Trek fans liked it. Casino Royale was also an attempt to appeal to non-bond fans, those who do not like James Bond films. Casino Royale was strange as those Bond fans who like the Fleming novels and two of the Connery films loved it and Daniel Craig's glum portrayal.

Audiences tired of the Bond reboot with QOS and want the suave, handsome Bond, gadgets etc back. Perhaps the next Star Trek film will disappoint too.

So it's going to end up like the odd numbered Trek films?

I think the best way to reduce resistance in the Trek community is making another Trek TV series set after Nemesis in the prime (original) timeline.

Wish they could do that with teh Bond films...but no matter what there are going to be people that hate it(stating the obvious, I know!)
