Post by The Sweeney »

Last month, Casino Royale was nominated for a Visual Effects Society award.

The fifth annual VES Awards ceremony was held on 11th February at the Kodak Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland, where Dennis Muren will be honored with the VES Lifetime Achievement Award.

Daniel Craig's debut James Bond film scooped the award for "outstanding special effects in a motion picture" - beating Superman Returns.

Bond special effects wizards Chris Corbould, Peter Notley, Ian Lowe, Roy Quinn were named for the prize.

Great news.

Shows that you don't have to rely on major-league CGI in order to produce convincing SFX.

Congrats to the SFX team.
