One more?

Post by Robert Stirling »

As this section of the forum looks rather dead for some time I've decided to make an attempt to bring it back to life.

Once on Roger Moore official forum there was a discussion about other Bond films he should have been in. As I find the speculations like for e.g. which Brosnan film he could have done rather pointless I'd like to focus on one particular possibility - TLD. So here's my post form http://www.roger-moore.com forum:
For some timeI have an impression as if the script for TLD was being written especially for him.
Because of it's plot the film would have been much better with an older Bond in it. And we all know who of the older Bonds is the best. What exactly gave me that idea was a couple of particular scenes in the film. First of all this with a sniper rifle and the younger agent in Bratislava. Bond's partner is clearly not as experienced as him, nervous and hence so devoted to all regulations and procedures. Bond attitude, thanks to his experience, is completely opposite. He's calm, relaxed and not taking seriously his partner's lectures. What work perfectly in theory failed in reality due to Timothy Dalton young appearance.
I also think that the whole Vienna sequence where Kara Milovy gradually discovers that Bond is someone more for her than only Georgi's friend would have been more understandable and convincing with the older Bond who wouldn't have made such an impression by his looks on their first meeting.
Does anyone have similar thoughts or am I the only one?
- "Do I look like I give a d**n?"
- You don't. And that's the main problem.

I think it was time for him to hang up his safari suit after AVTAK.

But, he could have been Bond earlier....

It seems to be pretty popular opinion among the fans. But I could only partly agree. I mean he definitely was physically suitable for the role of Bond far before LALD (I've recently watched the film "Vendetta for The Saint" from 1969 and it has very bondian air to it) but with that said I'm ver glad that he wasn't in neither OHMSS nor DAF. These films are much worse than LALD, especially as possible debut for Bond actor.

Although I don't like baseball, I enjoyed that film.
“I'd like to thank the Royal Marines for bringing me in like that and scaring the s--- out of me,” Bond Hardman Daniel Craig.

He's quite good Kevin Costner, although he made some stinkers. I love Tin Cup too.
