Actor Patrick Macnee, star of The Avengers TV series, has died in California at the age of 93.
The Briton, best known for playing John Steed in the 1960s television spy series, died at home with his family at his bedside, his son Rupert said.
A wonderful actor. It was strange that I was watching an episode of The Avengers, then found out about his death when I put the news on during an ad break.
Another tremendous loss.
After reading these comments I can not help think of how lucky we were as Bond fan and fans in general to have two such remarkable actors as Mr. Lee and Mr. Macnee.
I doubt it will happen again in my life time where a series has two such remarkable actors over a 10 to 11 year period, both men living such long active lives and passing away within a weeks of each other.
Godspeed Mr. Steed!

Used to watch the Avengers everyday after school. I was disappointed with his Bond character because he was capable of so much.
Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

Indeed. But it means that somewhere in the great beyond, John Steed is taking on Scaramanga. And how awesome is that?
Louis Jourdan was 93 as well
