You weren't familiar with the fact a lot of gay sites and gay people made positive comments about that image? Craig even got furious with a gay reporter paying him compliments at the BAFTAs, and that was widely reported. I thought it was common knowledge. I haven't seen many comments on that from heterosexual women, but there again I can safely say not a single girlfriend of mine would take a second look at Craig, so I guess experiences differ based on different people.stockslivevan wrote:How did he become a gay icon from that? From what I recall most of the responses he got from that were heterosexual females. I should know, my mom happened to be one of them hooting for Craig in those trunks.Alessandra wrote:He already did that... when he emerged in that light blue horrible swimming attire in CR. Remember how he became a gay icon for that?
And if they want to show empathy for the female audience there's only one thing to do: get rid of Craig and give us HENRY CAVILL shirtless at the beach for heaven's sakes!!
That comment I made was just a joke seen as it was about showing empathy for the female audience. So, it's only good if Cavill does it? Cavill fangirl to the end I see. Nothing wrong with that.
And, I didn't say to do the same scene with blue trunks, I just said to put Cavill shirtless at the beach. He can be fighting a villain shirtless, he can be running to keep shape in the morning while perusing the surroundings for his mission, or he can be checking out the villain who has a ship at sea while using binoculars. I wouldn't want Cavill to do the same scene as Craig at all, least of all with those horrid and completely out of fashion trunks. It was stupid, and just cheap titillation.
Besides, Daniel Craig isn't the first to emerge from the beach in blue swim trunks. That was first mastered by the ultimate Bond himself.
That wasn't the same type of scene at all, and the blue trunks (indigo blue, not that horrid baby blue Craig had) Connery has are fine and stylish for the times they were filming. Craig's ones, not really. Color was wrong, shape was wrong. Bond is supposed to be a CLASSY, stylish man who dresses accordingly. Those baby blue swimming trunks would only be worn by Chavs who oil themselves up before going to the beach to show off their nandrolone-filled gym muscles (for those not familiar with nandrolone, it's an anabolic steroid that helps increase muscle mass... sadly familiar with it being a sports reporter). Bond would never wear them. They had to be navy or black first off, and they had to be a bit longer and not nearly as tight. Basically, the shape of the short version Sundek makes for swimming trunks. Without, obviously, the Sundek rainbow on the back. But that shape and as I said, navy or black. No light blue. Then again, Connery's scene wasn't meant to be just a shot for the hell of it to show him shirtless. While Craig's scene was meant to be exactly that. It was completely pointless IMO.
