Disney buys Lucasfilm for $4 billion
Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm for $4 billion
Frank Marshall has said that the announcement of a director is only days away. I don't think it will be Joss Whedon, as he's tied up with Avengers 2. The other favourites seem to be Brad Bird and Matthew Vaughan. I could see either of those doing a good job. But of course it may be someone who comes completely out of left field.

Not officially confirmed as yet. Until it is, I'm treating it as just another rumour.Omega wrote:JJ Abrams to direct new Star Wars movie

J.J. Abrams already has a Star War franchise to direct under the guise of Star Trek!
I suppose he would be a logical choice, as would Guy Ritchie, Matthew Vaughn, Jon Favreau, & Brad Bird for Bond since they already direct what are essentially Bond series.

The '09 Trek doesn't look Star Wars. It's just different from the ones we watched before. In fact, every Trek is different.

Your were right about it being a rumor yesterday only deadline was saying it was confirmed. And I try not to go by them after what happened.Kristatos wrote:Lucasfilm and Disney have now officially confirmed that Abrams is directing.

No more 3d Prequels conversion and more concentrating on the new trilogy and "rebooting the franchise". I wonder if this means the 3D mania is dying down.

Rebooting Star Wars? I don't think so.Omega wrote:No more 3d Prequels conversion and more concentrating on the new trilogy and "rebooting the franchise". I wonder if this means the 3D mania is dying down.

Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm for $4 billion
I think new films will continue to be made in 3D, but there seems to be little appetite for 3D conversions of 2D movies. Beauty and the Beast 3D and Finding Nemo 3D both tanked at the box office. But studios haven't lost their enthusiasm for 3D overall. Pacific Rim is being converted to 3D, against Guillermo Del Toro's wishes. I plan to see it in 2D, the way the director intended.Omega wrote:No more 3d Prequels conversion and more concentrating on the new trilogy and "rebooting the franchise". Mark Hamill on Episode VII. I agree with everything Hamill says here.

He's right. He seems to have a better idea of what needs to happen the Lucas did. Didn't Hamill critique episode 3 when it came out?Kristatos wrote:Mark Hamill on Episode VII. I agree with everything Hamill says here.
