Good list. Mine would be very similar, and I agree AVTAK and DAD are definitely the two worst. Those two movies aren't just bad James Bond movies, they are bad movies period.stockslivevan wrote:After seeing it again, no, not the worst Bond ever. That's hyperbolic nonsense. I don't think it's perfect and it could have improved on certain aspects but I don't see how it's within the depths of hell like A View to a Kill and Die Another Day, now THOSE are the worst Bond films ever. Well, I've watched Bond again and the Bourne movies. I like them both. I don't see Bond as a ripoff, but it does take influence.

After watching the Bourne trilogy just recently, I can definitely see some resemblance but it ends with the way the action scenes are handled. Other than that, nothing. Bourne is a constant brooding lonely tired disgraced agent who wants to leave the system while having to face his own demons with his past. James Bond is man who doesn't mind doing a kill, but God forbid you have him reserved to a shitty low-class hotel.

I've edited your list of movies you own as you said you like Licence To Kill and Die Another Day equally on the MI6 forum.stockslivevan wrote:After seeing it again, no, not the worst Bond ever. I used to like a lot of stupid films back then like Little Nicky, before I developed better taste in films.

I think we *all* have movies that,if anyone else knew we liked them, we'd get laughed at.stockslivevan wrote:I used to like a lot of stupid films back then like Little Nicky, before I developed better taste in films.

I voted no. I think AVTAK might be the worst.

There are some things in AVTAK that I get a kick out of ... Stacey screaming is not one of them...
But still, DAF and DAD are below AVTAK for me.

I didn't think DAF was that good either, but I did like Mr. Kidd and Mr. Wint.

Many Craig as Bond/Casino Royale fans have honestly stated that QOS was a big disappointment. But many people are still trying to prop it up. I think it will be regarded as the worst Bond film in the future.
A View To a Kill has some cult/camp value with Christopher Walken, Grace Jones. Patrick MacNee, John Barry etc. It's entertaining, rewatchable and fun because it is a Cubby Broccoli effort. QOS has no redeeming features at all. It is badly made, tedious po-faced rubbish. It makes (the strangely similar) On Deadly Ground look like a masterpiece.
QOS may be one of those films that can be enjoyed as a "it's so bad that it is good" way in the future.
Bring back Bond!

Re: Is Quantum Of Solace the worst ever James Bond film?
I'm not sure that I even regard QOS as a James Bond film. If I had to rank it then of course it's bottom of the pile. A big budget Chuck Norris/Van Damme film starring old droopy mouth with no story whatsoever. Absolute shite.

Re: Is Quantum Of Solace the worst ever James Bond film?
You don't get to give the orders here, sunshine. I think a case can be made for calling QOS the worst ever Bond film. The columnist Simon Hoggart in The Observer many years back ran a readers' poll to find the worst songs of all time. He specifically excluded cheesy novelty songs, because he felt that to be truly bad, a song had to have pretensions beyond being mindless entertainment for the masses. The pompous, bloated Bohemian Rhapsody, a song whose only saving grace is that it inadvertantly gave us punk by proving to the world's musicians that Something Must be Done, ended up being voted the most hated song of all time. I'm sure you see where I'm going with this. The likes of Moonraker and Octopussy may be bad Bond films, but they're The Birdie Song in this analogy. QOS, and to a lesser extent CR, are BoCrap.wrenchhands wrote:So I guess the answer is "No". Close the thread.
