According to Forbes, the official financial statements for the film confirm Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was a massive loss for Disney, losing the company a total of $134 million. The budget for the film was a whopping $387.2 million.

Shame, I thought it was better than Crystal Skull. I suspect that and the disappointing box office returns of the last Mission Impossible movie are contributing to the delays with Bond 26.

The “Bond 26” trailer introduces Cavill as the new Bond using a mix of footage from other movies and artificial intelligence. The trailer also ambitiously casts Margot Robbie as a Bond girl. So far, the wannabe trailer has generated 2.3 million viewers, presumably driven by a mix of fans enjoying it as a “what-if” effort, along with some being fooled by it........Cavill, who is currently promoting his new World War II movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, recently spoke to ongoing rumors that he could one day play Bond during an April 15 appearance on The Rich Eisen Show:

"I have no idea. All I've got to go off is the rumors, so it's the same information you have," he said. "Maybe I'm too old now, maybe I'm not. We'll see. It's up to Barbra Broccoli and [coproducer] Mike Wilson, so we'll see what their plans are."

Some extremely young entertainment reporter named Robert Oliver at the Metro.co.Uk website wrote this: 'In addition to there being no official statement on who’ll be playing James Bond in the future, there’s also no word on when the next film in the franchise will be coming along. As of 2024, the longest gap between two Bond films currently stands at four years, with Die Another Day – Piers Brosnan’s final outing as the spy – coming in 2002, four years before Craig’s debut in Casino Royale. There was then a gap of four years between follow-up film Quantum of Solace in 2008 and 2012’s Skyfall'.....I emailed him and advised him he was wrong. He also cannot spell PIERCE correctly either. This is who they hire to write articles on Bond news? https://metro.co.uk/2024/04/19/aaron-ta ... son_item-0 Image

Not to mention that the whole article is bs, because it's based around a bookies' odds non-story.

He emailed me back from that website and CHANGED his report to the correct information: "Hope you're well. Thanks a lot for these emails. Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I'm not sure where you are in the world, but it was 4am here when they arrived so forgive me. Apologies for these mistakes in my article yesterday. To paraphrase Alan Partridge, I can't believe I got Bond wrong! Being completely honest, yesterday was just busier than an average Friday which meant that a couple of things slipped through our usually rigorous standards. Can't really explain it any further than that. Readers like yourself keep us on our toes, though, and keep our standards high - we're incredibly grateful, so thank you. We've updated the Bond article based on your information - see below - and we hope everything's up to snuff now. Feel free to get in touch again in the future."-------his CORRECTED words are STILL wrong!: "As of 2024, the longest gap between two Bond films currently stands at six years, with License to Kill – Timothy Dalton’s final outing as the spy – coming in 1989, four years before Pierce Brosnan’s debut in GoldenEye. There was then a gap of four years between Quantum of Solace in 2008 and 2012’s Skyfall"........his story is trending now as well yet this website had to correct his story. Kris, contact that website and maybe they can hire YOU to do the Bond reporting.

If they hired me to do the Bond reporting, I wouldn't treat "bookies' odds shorten" as if it was news. Mind you, it would probably mean cosying up to EON in the hope that they might give me an exclusive.

The irony is, despite all this young chap's foibles, he's the only one pushing back against the ATJ is all but Bond narrative. At least going by the snippet BJ provided.

He corrected it again and shortened what he wrote to this: "As of 2024, the longest gap between two Bond films currently stands at six years, with License to Kill – Timothy Dalton’s final outing as the spy – coming in 1989 before Pierce Brosnan’s debut as 007 in GoldenEye in 1995."

Did you write again, or did he (or a sub-editor) spot the obvious error by himself?

I wrote him AGAIN and told him and he corrected it AGAIN without telling me. Send your resume to that website and tell them you have plenty of experience in this field vs. what they have now.

Only quibble I would add is that Nttd was in “the can” years before it was released. So the separation between production to bind 26 is getting a bit long.

Nice work, BJ. That's great he corrected the article and it made me laugh.

I watched Fast Charlie and it's entertaining enough and worth a look. The second half is exciting with a lot of tense moments and nice action, but the first half drags a bit. Brosnan does great and still looks the part - if you squint a bit he could still be Bond.

It was a dumb idea forcing him to attempt a heavy Southern accent as it just ends up being a distraction. Morena Baccarin does great in it as well but the age gap is honestly a bit of an issue. They do gloss over it but there are enough references to the possibility of romance to make it a bit awkward. Might have been a better idea to cast an older actress there.

I give it about 5 1/2 out of 10, but if the whole film was like the second half I would rate it quite a lot higher. If you enjoyed The November Man, I would say definitely give it a watch. Now where's FBF?

Maybe Brozza was, ah say, maybe Brozza was trying to compete with Daniel Craig's Foghorn Leghorn impression in the Benoit Blanc films.

I forgot to say it's really interesting that critics and apparently audiences have been much kinder to Brosnan and Fast Charlie than some of his earlier post Bond action efforts. It's at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to just 35% for The November Man! Is this a case of the Brosnan bashing having finally wound down now the Craig PR machine has relaxed? Or are action movies becoming so dire these days that there's a new appreciation for the more retro stuff?

One trope that should be past its sell by date is the protagonist hooking up with the wife of the guy he had a hand in killing, although the whole story more or less revolves around it in this one so it's difficult to see how else they could have written it.

I doubt there's any conspiracy involved, I think it's just the cycle whereby yesterday's critically derided has-been becomes today's national treasure. It happened to Roger as well.

Godzilla x Kong grossed $21.6M in 77 overseas markets this frame, just a 42% dip in the holdovers. That puts the international cume at $313.6M and global at $485.2M. In like-for-like international markets and using today’s exchange rates, the monster mash is tracking 55% ahead of Godzilla, 22% higher than Meg 2: The Trench, 13% over Godzilla Vs Kong and roughly on par with Dune 2 and Kong: Skull Island. The film has really lit up in China – rare for that fickle market — regaining the No.1 spot this frame amid strong competition. The running total there is $119.3M. Rounding out the Top 5 are Mexico ($30.2M), UK ($15.9M), India ($14M) and Australia ($10.7M). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28TxwWDVFec
