I mean,seriously,how can you not like Bond?! A suave,sophisticated,charismatic secret agent...quite honestly...that's a mystery for me.
Yeah, masses dont care that much (even craig is bond to them) & that means BIG BOX OFFICE...ITS ALL ABOUT THE M-A-S-S-E-S in moviebusiness.
But-ask anyone on the street how do they see Bond and I bet they will say "suave,charismatic,dark-haired secret agent"...the thing is,general public doesn't think of Bond that much and this mix of Batman and Bourne(very successful franchises as well) is okay for them...half-way through the movie they probably forget what Bond should be like...

I watched EON:The untold story of James Bond and I found the fact that the documentary started with Craig disgraceful. It should have begun with Connery footage because with him the phenomenon started-he is the one that made Bond a phenomenon in the first place. Not to mention how much Babs crapped about how her father and Connery made up in some soap-opera style through the phone saying "I'm sorry" to each other.I wonder if anyone actually bought it.Not to mention her crapping "how it was so difficult to say to pierce how he won't be back"...yeah,it was so difficult that you didn't even do it yourself...I swear how much crap one person can say?Oh,and she is also comparing Craig to the husband "because thinking about another Bond is like thinking about another husband while walking down the aisle." that says everything about(the lack of) objectivity...

FBF, can you explain Survivor not even registering on this weekend list? http://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/ It must have grossed LESS THAN $558.00 IN TOTAL to not make the list :!:  If he does not get a decent box office with No Escape, choose another actor to champion. He looks like box office toast. Connery said it best: As did Heston: Streaming app Hoopla is bringing first-run VOD movies to library patrons for free, with choices like the brand-new Pierce Brosnan-Milla Jovovich actioner “Survivor”. “Survivor” is also opening in a small number of theaters.

Any UK members going to the VUE Cinema Bond double-bills? I have had my TLD/LTK double bill tickets for weeks. That'll be my Bond cinematic fix for this year. So excited to see my two favourite Bond films on the big screen. :D :007:

Is 007 bound for Warner?

Published at: June 2, 2015, 2:35 p.m. CST

Many of us got used to the United Artists logo appearing before the famous Bond fanfare, as it opened (and continues to open, on video) the first 18 official 007 adventures. Even after MGM merged with the company in 1981, the UA logo still would introduce the Bond flicks all the way through TOMORROW NEVER DIES. After MGM released THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH and DIE ANOTHER DAY solo, their financial situation had become such that they had to partner with Sony to release the four (to date) Daniel Craig Bonds.

However, those rights expire after SPECTRE, and word is that Warner Bros. is probably the one with the best chance of scooping them up.

While MGM has partnered with Sony on a great number of projects over the past few years, the biggest hits they’ve been involved in, by a wide margin, have been the HOBBIT movies, which Warner (thanks to their ownership of New Line) was in charge of distributing. The two studios also have a few co-productions on the docket, like CREED and BARBERSHOP 3, and apparently MGM and WB’s head honchos (Gary Barber and Kevin Tsujihara, respectively) are quite chummy. Add to that the not-at-all-widely-reported personnel shakeup at Sony that may have left MGM a bit cool (even if Amy Pascal had her own particular thoughts on where the Bond franchise should go), and it makes sense that after SPECTRE, the next studio logo we’ll see before getting shot in the eye by James’ Walther will likely be Warner’s everlasting shield.

And with Warner’s rep for not fiddling and letting the creatives do their thing, that sounds like good news, no?

Image Let's hope so James. The inside word is that the friendship between MGM chief Gary Barber and Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara could give WB the inside track.........How appropriate Cr-egg's first scene was in a toilet, which is where he has brought this franchise :!:

Disney is reporting that yesterday (June 1st), Avengers: Age of Ultron surpassed Marvel's The Avengers international total of $895 million and today will become only the 5th title ever to cross $900 million overseas. Combined with NA's $428.6 million, Ultron has grossed $1.3279 billion globally. Currently the #6 film of all-time worldwide, the Disney/Marvel blockbuster is still in release in many markets and will open in Japan on July 4.

big news if true. Hell the Sony leak was very embarrassing for bond and the script is out there all sonys fault and could cost mgm millions .

This Might actually give Henry caville a real shot since he's a big player in wbs dc franchises.

I think it was wb who was serious about buying mgm back when they were bankrupt

Forget Henry. He's too big now. Besides, Bond can be anyone or anything based on SF's nonsensical success and recognition.

Did I say Pierce has been underrated ever since after GE?
If he does not get a decent box office with No Escape, choose another actor to champion.

If I have to choose, then Christian Bale is the one. He may not be the bat anymore, but he's still flows in momentum with films getting recognition by the Oscars and all that stuff.
He looks like box office toast.
Not unlike Fat Seagal nowadays. Hollywood is ruining him, and not many people are realizing how underrated he is.

Hello BJ and darlings!!
LOL this is such an APT observation!

I am bringing you the news that James mentioned above from a much more prestigious source, because VARIETY just reported it. SONY IS most likely ON THEIR WAY OUT from Bond. Which means, once again, Babs is DONE. There's no Pascal anymore, so she can dream about her crazy plans being backed by Sony anyway at this point, BUT the distribution rights are up for grabs after Spectre, so it definitely looks like ANOTHER option may be in place, because of MGM ties with others (and Sony certainly didn't do ANY good, with Pascal's craziness).

James Bond may bring his license to kill to another Hollywood studio after a lucrative stint at Sony Pictures, sources tell Variety.

The November 6 release of “Spectre” will mark the end of a multi-picture pact between Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Sony that has encompassed “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace” and “Skyfall,” the highest-grossing 007 film in franchise history.

However, insiders speculate that the close relationship between MGM chief Gary Barber and Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara could result in the super-spy shifting addresses to the Burbank studio. MGM and Warner Bros. have partnered on several films including the “Hobbit” trilogy, the May box office dud “Hot Pursuit” and the upcoming Rocky Balboa spin-off, “Creed.”

In an exclusive sit-down interview, newly-minted Sony Pictures Entertainment motion picture group chairman Tom Rothman acknowledged that the fight for the Bond rights will be fierce.

“The reality is that Sony’s had a fantastic run with the Bonds,” said Rothman, adding, “Sure we’re going to compete for (the rights), but let’s be honest, so is everybody in the business.”

“I hear Variety is putting in a bid,” he joked.

Sony extended its contract to co-finance and distribute “Spectre” and “Skyfall” in 2011, throwing in the right for MGM to invest on Sony’s remake of “Total Recall,” “21 Jump Street,” and “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.”

James Bond made an appearance in the hack attack on Sony that helped cost Rothman’s predecessor Amy Pascal her job and resulted in the release of reams of company emails and documents. An early script for “Spectre” was among the items that made their way to the Internet.

“This Bond is going to be great and…hopefully we’ll do as good a job as we did on the last one,” said Rothman, noting that with a global gross of more than $$1 billion, “Skyfall’s” box office haul was “by far and away the highest that any Bond had ever done.”

Let me not get into that "gross figure" cause I will just  and humiliate them, but um yeah. Looks like we're headed for Warner Bros, and when VARIETY says so, you can stay assured there is a hell of a lot of truth to it.

I fear that the damage is already done, though. Sony was responsible for the reboot, for sucking all the fun out of Bond, and I understand that it was them who pushed for Daniel Craig. But unless SPECTRE flops at the box office, which is unlikely, I can't see Warner or whoever changing course now.
