Which is best: TND or TWINE
GoldenEye is considered to be the best Brosnan Bond movie, and Die Another Day the worst.
Which is the better of the two other Brosnan Bond movies: Tomorrow Never Dies or The World Is Not Enough?

I like TND better, but I'm probably in a minority.

I like them about the same probably, although anti-Craiger Sophie Marceau's appearence in TWINE makes me favour that film.

I mariginally prefer Tomorrow Never Dies to The World Is Not Enough because as Roger Ebert said "Tomorrow Never Dies gets the job done, sometimes excitingly, often with style". I agree. It's a fun solid typical James Bond move, the sort of traditional James Bond movie that could be made if the reboot is jettissoned.
It has memorable moments such as the pre-credits, Kaufmann and the remote controlled car.

TND had a great opening and followed up by going everywhere. The Chinese opposite might be ahead of its time.

Re: Which is best: TND or TWINE
My favourite would have to be The World Is Not Enough, since it's my second favourite bond-film after Goldeneye.
It has a very interesting characterization of James Bond and of course the wonderful characters of Elektra and Renard, even the return of Valentin Zukowsky. After the fantastic GE and the solid, but a little to much of just a straight action picture, TND, TWINE showed what could be done within a James Bond-film. Why they didn't use this as a starting platform to develop together with Pierce Brosnan for Casino Royale, i will never understand. TWINE shows how a modern and more complex bond-film should be made, without losing the character of James Bond or the uniqueness of being a bond-film.

Welcome to the forum P.Brosnan!
Twine is my second favorite of Brosnan's Bond. TND I thought dropped the ball a little. It it still great fun to watch in fact Mrs.Dr No prefers it over Twine. Except for the Richards gal I though twine had a really good cast, and Q's last bow! Solid from beginning to end, and remember all this talk about how Bond never get hurt, well he was in TWINE and it was a important part of the story.
Sophie Marceau was simply magnificent as the bad gal Bond never saw coming. And she worked as the master mind of it all, oddly Bond killed the Mastermind long before the henchmen were taken care of. Good movie.
Of Brosnans movies it goes like this for me
GE A+, TND B-, Twine A, DAD B
I was really looking forward to his fifth movies, it could have been great.

Both are terrible, but TND at least doesn't cop out as much as TWINE offensively does. I actually consider TWINE worse than DAD.

Re: Which is best: TND or TWINE
I thought TND captured some of the thrill of the early Bonds, I know on a lot of forums it gets a bad press,But on leaving the cinema after watching it I thought Bond was Back as an Event movie.Where as I was a little disapointed in TWINE,the ski chase seemed rather slow.and at the time I didn't like the way Q was being sidelined (later learned he wanted it this way)and like TMWTGG it had a small ending, I think Bond should always have a huge set piece ending.

TND for me
TND :- not the greatest Bond film, but a great action movie, even tone throughout, and fantastic soundtrack
TWINE :- some very good scenes, but overall a very mixed bag of ideas, lacked the likeability factor

Re: Which is best: TND or TWINE
TWINE for the reasons already stated.TND had a lot of potential to be a truly great Bond movie. It just had too much action. There are highlights of course. The hotel room scene with Bond sipping vodka...brilliant.Dr.Kaufman,BMW on remote... had some great scenes.TWINE features Brosnan' brilliat performance,Marceau's incredible potrayal of Elektra,a theme song that fits really well(if we forget the apsurdity of Denise Richards and Dr.Christmas Jones)-Also there's a subtext to this movie.Elektra is an complexed character.Overral, never understood why some people thing this is a bad movie.Yes,there's awful Denise Richards, but aside from that people don't point to anything else. Also,Brosnan and Marceau had an incredible chemistry. The bed scene i just... phew. The moment after Bond kills Elektra and touches her face is one of the msot moving.A shame the moment is somehow ruined afterwards because of the sheer fact that they weren't brave enough to put Bond alone at the end-the way it should have been...but overral I think this one is criminally underrated.

Re: Which is best: TND or TWINE
But I think TND needs more respect for the issues it faced.Jonathan Pryce who played the villian said how he ended up in a completely diffirent script than the one at the beggining. The script was rewritten daily even during the filming so if we take that into consideration the movie is good as it is.

Re: Which is best: TND or TWINE
Totally agree with you. TWINE wasn't a typical Bond movie in terms of characters and relationships between them. Both of those things are more complexed than in any typical Bond movie. That's the reason why I love it.It is diffirent yet it still feels like a Bond movie. I will never understand why some people find this to be a bad movie.Yeah,Richards is terrible and her character totally uneccesary. If they wanted to have three conquests for Bond they should give a bigger role to Maria Grazia ,an actress who potrayed the Cigar girl. She seemed like a fine actress and was attractive in "Italian" way which is definitely better than Richards's "American bimbo" look. They could gave her a bigger role and have Bond hook up with her before going to Azerbaijan to Elektra. But then again, why was another Bond girl even necessary? The best thing about the movie is the relationship between Bond and Elektra. Why ruin it just to have a traditional ending in a "Roger Moore"like way?P.Brosnan wrote:My favourite would have to be The World Is Not Enough, since it's my second favourite bond-film after Goldeneye.
