Captain Nash's future of Bond discussion thread
Yes that's right folks, the title is correct.
As many of you dislike many of the choices that Eon have made in the last few years, be it casting, direction or anything else.
Here is your chance (hypothetically) to change all that.
So without making one word posts about getting rid of Craig, what would you do if you suddenly found yourself running the Bond franchise.
Things to include :
Who would play Bond?
Who would you replace?
Who would you bring back or add?
Who would you chose to direct?
What artists would be on your short list to perform a Bond title track?
What direction would you take the series in?
What would you do to make the Bond films fresh and original?
What would you do to makes sure the series had a future?
Obviously there are many questions we could ask, but you get the idea.
You're the boss now. Go ahead, sink or swim.

Re: So you think you can do better than EON...
I think my Risico fanfic gives a pretty good idea of my vision for the next film. I've answered most of these questions at various points in the past, but it doesn't hurt to put it all in one place.
Who would play Bond? - Christian Bale would be the best choice, but he may be too famous now, and his erratic behaviour makes him a risky prospect. If they want to go with an unknown, I think Richard Armitage would be a good Bond.
Who would you bring back or add? - I already brought back Moneypenny, and Major Boothroyd made his presence felt, but did not actually appear, since his first meeting with Bond was in DN and Risico was intended as a bridge between QOS and DN as it might appear in the rebooted timeline (of course, in DN, it is also stated that Bond has never met Felix Leiter before, but I can't fix that without some major retconning, and I'm not convinced it's worth the effort). Not sure I'd want Cleese back as Q, but Villiers pretty much fulfilled the Q role in CR, perhaps he could be promoted to become the new Q in Bond 24? I also mentioned Ronnie Vallance for, I think, the first time in a Bond film. I wouldn't mind him actually making an appearance. Not sure who would play him, though, any suggestions, Fleming fans?
Who would direct? - I'd like to see Vic Armstrong fully direct a Bond film. He has been working on Bond films since before I was born, so I'm sure he knows Bond like the back of his hand, and he can actually direct action unlike some Bond directors I could mention.
Who would perform the title track? - For Risico, I think Natacha Atlas would be my first choice. Her mixture of European and Middle Eastern heritage makes her ideal for a fim set in Italy, Turkey and Iran, and she has worked with David Arnold before (three times, in fact).
What direction would you take the series in? - start bringing back some of the humour and fantasy that has been lost in the last two films, but without going back to Moonraker territory.
The last two are a bit trickier. In particular, there is no such thing as a guaranteed hit movie, and making decisions based on perceived commercial appeal isn't a recipe for good fillmaking. Just make the movies good and hopefully people will want to see them.

Re: So you think you can do better than EON...
Who would play Bond? Craig
Who would you bring back or add? The style of CR, and get John Barry back one more time, even if it's to be his last ever film
Who would you chose to direct? Tony Scott (but not on steroids, Man on Fire, Domino style)
What artists would be on your short list to perform a Bond title track? Oasis
What direction would you take the series in? Where it left off in CR. Try to use as many unused Fleming scenes as possible.
What would you do to make the Bond films fresh and original? Bit tricky. Most has already been done.

Re: So you think you can do better than EON...
Who would play Bond?
John Barrowman +a british accent would be Bond
Who would you replace?
Get a new Felix. Sorry, but I'm all for keeping to Fleming's Bond, and he wasn't black. I'm not racist, I just want Fleming
Who would you bring back or add?
Jennifer Morrison as a Bond girl
Who would you chose to direct?
Chris Nolan
What artists would be on your short list to perform a Bond title track?
Amanda Palmer
What direction would you take the series in?
Back toward Fleming's Bond
What would you do to make the Bond films fresh and original?
Ditto
What would you do to makes sure the series had a future?
Keep the series modern but consistent to Fleming

Funny, I didn't think this thread would get many replies.
There are plenty of people here (they know who they are) who are quick to judge. But given the chance to make change (hypothetically) they run and hide.
Typical.

Is Craig the only problem?
So this has been discussed before, but I felt it's about time for an update.
Obviously Craig as Bond is a big no no for most of you. But is he the sole problem for you?
If EON were to ditch Craig in Bond 23 would you be happy?
If a (in your opinion) more Bondian actor were to take the role (? Not sure who you'd go with?) would that be enough.
So give some ideas of your thoughts here.
Bond 23
James Bond ?
Bond girl ?
Villain?
Directed by ?
Written by ?
Title song ?
Brief story outline ?
Anything else you think is relevant.
I look forward to seeing your thoughts on this. Who knows, maybe EON will get to see some of the ideas for fans of Bond who aren't happy with Daniel Craig. If they visit the site of course.

Re: Is Craig the only problem?
Well as you're in a sarcastic mood capt. maybe you could enlighten us as to your choices?
Why would EON take notice of fansites? They probably read them on the odd occassion and that's it.
As for my picks.
James Bond - Daniel Craig
Bond girl - Michelle Pfeiffer
Bond villain - Harvey Keitel
Directed by - Martin Campbell or Michael Apted
Written by - Michael G Wilson and Paul Haggis
Title song - Instrumental
Brief story outline - Bond is assigned to Colorado US to observe a suspicous US General. Bond is befriended by the general and believes Mi6 have got the wrong man. But has Bond been deceived?
Locations - Perth, Australia - New York, USA - Colorado, USA - Vancouver, Canada - UK
Okay so that's not an overly long sypnosis, but I'm thinking in the vein of TLD.
Who's next?

Re: Is Craig the only problem?
Here's mine:
Bond: Daniel Craig
Bond girl: an unknown European actress
Bond villian: An unknown European actor
Directed by: Marc Forster & Daniel Craig
Written by: Paul Haggis, Marc Forster, Daniel Craig, Barbara Broccoli and some unknown European scriptwriter
Title Song: Daniel Craig
Brief story outiline: Bond, still evolving into James Bond, is on a personal mission to find out who killed his girlfriend. A CGIed Bond kills everyone he meets before stabbing the villian at the end shouting "who's the Guvnor now".

Aren't we here to discuss?
Isn't this a forum where all viewpoints are allowed?
There is nothing unpleasant, derogatory or abusive about this thread. It's merely a few questions that I felt some of the members here would like to answer. As Craig is not most members idea of Bond, I was wondering what kind of Bond film they'd like.
If you don't like it, don't post capt.

After Quantum I'd say it might be a bad thing. Any fansite, including this one, would have steered the movie on a much truer course than the one ultimately chosen.katied wrote:Is that a good thing or a bad thing?I could see them being desperate enough when they can't think of anything, plot wise for the next movie, that they take a look at fansites.Michael G. The Captain Nash future of Bond debate and discussion
As the name suggests, this is designed to discuss and debate the future of Bond.
Possible actors, locations, action, stories even dare I say it, producers and directors.
What direction do you see the Bond series taking into the future?
Not a discussion on what has happened in the past, and really not about the present, though Craig is the present Bond, so we have to factor him into the future at this point. But I know you'll be glad to recall, nothing lasts forever.
So, thoughts?
