Why do we get screeching tyres in the sand? http://i.imgur.com/Rfi2Hno.jpg Pre-all weather radial, obviously a bad set of retreads. Not really, sloppy film making. Silly outfit for 007. http://i.imgur.com/1O4JPRM.jpg About right for the place and time. Silly Tracy outfit. http://i.imgur...

"W hoa, space cowboy!" http://borgdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/armageddon-nasa-asteroid-drilling-space-gear.jpg That's a helluva ambitious project to take on. Taking down the most universally gushed over Bond film of all time. I happen to agree it is not up to the hype (until recently one of t...

Re: What if Sean Connery played Bond until 1985?

From Casino Royale He found her companionship easy and unexacting. There was something enigmatic about her which was a constant stimulus. She gave little of her real personality away and he felt that however long they were together there would always be a private room inside her which he could never...

Jet Set Sweeney any reports of DVD/BR sales figures? Yes, I've seen the number one ranks but I'm looking for actual numbers ever since Wal-mart joined up its been hard to get real numbers except in studio PR. Breaking Dawn Part 2 sold an estimated 3.86 million units in its debut weekend This is what...

Craig hasn't brought in the younger audience, the demographics for Skyfall were older then DAD to QOS/Quark. The 50th appealed to older fans a lot of whom don't suppose they'll be around for the 60th & 70th. The young hoodie crowed is not wowed by Bond I don't know if it matters who is the lead. The...

Fleming's Bond was a patriot, he represented what was good about the western culture/world. He saved the damsel in distress, he protected the innocent, he in short was a hero. Not once can I say I eve felt this way once about Craig

I'm actually surprised that they're going ahead with making the movie of the second Dragon Tattoo movie, since the first wasn't exactly a hit. Plus, it ws pretty much a scene for scene remake of the Swedish language film. Well they need to do something with it. Nobody made money on it despite all t...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

"Bring back Bond" that's all I want, don't care how it is done or who does it. Given the fact that SF is the biggest Bond film in 47 years, I think you may have a long wait for a 007 movie which doesn't follow in the same vein as SF. A more traditional M, addition of MoneyP and Q, yeah I doubt they...

Re: Bond 50 Becomes Bestselling Blu-ray Box Set of 2012

Nope. Speaking of TSWLM, it has never looked better. I guess the diffusion look is why the previous DVD releases used excessive edge enhancement. And on GE, from what I understand they didn't use the Lowry transfer for blu but instead went back to an older video master which is probably why the DNR...

Re: Bond 50 Becomes Bestselling Blu-ray Box Set of 2012

I wasn't too bothered with the GE transfer, mainly because I've seen far worse DNR treatments. Check out STAR TREK VI, which looks like rubber city. Still, would be nice to get a new GE transfer. At least the cropping issues are gone. Well it is not the worst -but it shouldn't be acceptable because...

Large sums of money can go towards promoting these movies for consideration ($3m to $5m). However it is what it is, a business.

Re: Bond 50 Becomes Bestselling Blu-ray Box Set of 2012

Got this set and I gotta say it's very impressive how all the Bond films looks in HD. The only one that didn't look impressive was TND, but that's mainly because the cinematographer give it a very soft and subdued look, using lots of smoke on sets and such and as a result the blu-ray is barely an u...

Great news Sweeney. Now that Cr-egg is locked in forever, how can Eon top this next time with no anniversary hooplah? I predict Bond 24 will be Craig's YOLT/MR, but done in a more realistic context. You heard it first here folks........ :spy: What? How do you either more realistic? Rockets landing ...

Sweeney/Willy, mate, I didn't forget, came down to being too short on time. I'm looking at some other data but I probably won't dive into it until later. I used the tickets sales with a fair 2012 adjusted ticket price. Had to get some opinions as to what fair is for a apples to apples comparison. As...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

How many theaters did the top 5 play to? Not sure. There are other things to consider too - movie cable channels, illegal downloads and DVD was not all the range back in the 60's, so more people had to go to the cinema for movie entertainment in those days. So it is difficult to put modern day figu...

These are not real accurate for comparison, that it looks like is they used a inflation calculator adjusting 2006 total to 2012, only it is not accurate for movies. It works for salaries, but once we get to movie take and attendances it falls apart. I also don't believe it works for adjusting cost e...

Yes, Ian Fleming made sure his villains were crackerjack real world operators with practical plans. Cubby insisted they take real world headlines and make the stories as real as possible for the movies, he wanted to do a story on water rights in Bolivia for Thunderball but it never happened. In 1976...

http://www.apple.com/itunes/charts/songs/ Itunes charts shows Adele's song dropping to 14th place as Gangnam Style is still number 2. Re: Craig to get £31 milion for two more Bonds

Well, we'll see where these new numbers are coming from, I thought the old ones were low ball -old contract clause. They always get these numbers salary numbers wrong. Connery made with one movie what they say he did over a career. Moore was cheap as chips until 1981. These actors were paid what the...
