Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

Curious not everyone is reflecting as big a decline as they are. Bigger news is Twilight perhaps failing to meet expectations, the most anticipated movie of 2012.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

Sounds like AVTAK is still the no.1 spot after what Kris said. I never realised it hit so high in the US. I bet Adele's song is near the top though in terms of actual records sold. Can anyone dig up the figures? There was something on this a week ago. 661,000 units to date and it currently sits at ...

I wouldn't go there. Probably be Live and Let Die and Die Another Day, those songs went on long after their movies were off the scene.

The descent begins: Forecast (Nov. 16-18) 1. Breaking Dawn Part 2 - $158 million (including 10 p.m. Thursday) 2. Skyfall - $47.5 million (-46%) 3. Wreck-It Ralph - $18.7 million (-43%) 4. Lincoln - $11.5 million 5. Flight - $8.9 million (-40%) If it plays out that way, it'd be an improvement over Q...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

It’s not even… we can’t even think about it. It’s like going down the aisle to get married and looking for your next husband. It doesn’t work that way. Almost verbatim what she said about Brozza in 2002 & 3. She makes it sound as if she has Madonna's "Like a Virgin" playing softly in the background...

Best line in SF was just after 'Kincade' blew a villain apart with a sawn off shot-gun, and says ........."WELCOME TO SCOTLAND" :) ps:- BO MOJO reckons SF could make over $900 mil worldwide. Which is funny because they are neither in Scotland nor welcome. I wouldn't say 900m impossible, s...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

I concede I underestimated Skyfall ticket sales. It's about 1 million increase if the numbers hold, which is almost exactly the Imax boost. Without Imax it is exactly the same amount of people who went to QOS. I thought 80m would be a good take in healthy market, binging back the same audience qos ...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

If Saturdays holds then it will be a 80m weekend, if Friday was front loaded it will be in the 70s. I am some what surprised because the metrics wasn't there for this, Sony didn't see it either. I still wonder how it will hold, it grows in some markets and holds in others. Next week will be the bigg...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

I think Sweeney is going to be SHOCKED by what I'm about to say, but here goes. I saw Skyfall. I think it is WAY better than QoS (not that it takes much, but still). And I think it has some hints of them getting the message that they've got to STOP giving us Bourne instead of Bond movies. The plot ...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

Here's how I came up with my estimate, which I freely admit is guess work: I was thinking $65 million-$70 million puts you in the neighborhood of something like 2011's Thor and Captain America movies. Actually, it'd mean *more* people went to see Skyfall because those two Marvel films had higher 3D...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

I hope you are correct Q, but I doubt it simply because it's cold here in NYC and the east coast so people will go to the movies and there really is nothing else playing of significance. IF you are correct, and again I hope you are, $60 million would be awful for Eon here, just awful, but people he...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

$78-82 million. Anything under $70 million would be abysmal for Eon here. I agree, i mean its 4 years since QOS, and i know that film was bolstered by the success of Casino Royale, but time has moved on and ticket prices have risen, so anything, but a huge opening in the US will not be good for the...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

My personal suspicion (and this is pure guesswork): is that Skyfall's production budget was in the $150 million to $200 million range. The first unit only when to Turkey while a second unit went to China. On the official Web site, there was a display on the side, "Where is Bond?" It was either poin...

Bloody frogs! It looks like this will be the first time in ten years France will break the DAD attendance, I knew where Germany was trending but wasn't expecting such a high ticket price. As for the rest they are more or less where they normally go. So Germany, France and UK will have unusually high...

Re: Skyfall = Bond is dead

Off topic. Sweeney/Jetters do you think this Craig reboot makes his previous two irrelevant? Almost, yes. Had this film followed CR then it would have made more sense, but I can see the need for QoS to wrap up Bond's unfinished business with `Quantum' (as much as I hate the concept of this organisa...
