Re: Quantum Of Solace smashes Japanese record
Why should anyone bother? You will just respond with some erroneous stats that fit your agenda! As mentioned before, everything I've ever posted has been 100% true, and verifiable. If anyone thinks they're erroneous, they're welcome to show otherwise :) Also, what agenda? I've posted quite a ...

Re: Quantum Of Solace smashes Japanese record
Inflation? I think you mean, DEflation. According to Screen Daily - the average ticket price in Japan has decreased from 2007 to 2008. Here's the analysis, straight from The Motion Pictures Association of Japan: http://www.screendaily.com/ScreenDailyArticle.aspx?intStoryID=42888&strSearch=japanese%2...

Re: Quantum Of Solace smashes Japanese record
Quark slips to 6th in Japan, Mama Mia to 4th, and Ben Button to 1st. It is odd you've stopped mentioning the figures :) Here they are, though: QOS slips 29% to $0.91m in its fourth week, for a running total of $18.57m. This puts it right under CR's final total of $18.98m, after only four weeks (plu...

Re: Quantum Of Solace smashes Japanese record
QOS played TWICE as many times per day as CR did in the USA and worldwide I had no idea CR was a 212 minute film! Blimey, I guess the complaints about the length were correct...:) I have only ever posted facts - nothing I have ever posted here has been less than the 100% truth - and if you can stat...

Re: Quantum Of Solace smashes Japanese record
Nothing is assured until it is done. Even with Sony's support and pumping money into it, it's not over until it is Who's pumping money into it? Prints are lessened than on CR - QOS debuted in 345 screens - CR debuted in 443 - almost 100 screens more. That makes QOS' increased take even more impress...

Re: Quantum Of Solace smashes Japanese record
No need to spin it - QOS' third week take was $1.3m for a total of $15.95m. By comparison, CR had dropped to $1.0m in its third weekend, for a total of $9.46m. Of course, QOS had played for those previews the weekend before, but even so, CR's FOUR week take was only $10.9 - and that's with a full we...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office
You're overlooking the change in exchange rates. Since 2002, the value of the dollar against foreign currencies has fallen considerably. Even with inflation, CR and QOS would look like they had bigger foreign grosses because when you convert them into dollars, there would be more dollars per curren...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office
How do you know the Klast site is wrong and the chart you posted is correct? 1: The chart I posted is the studio's own data, taken from Exhibitor Relations, Inc. 2: The attendance figures are corroborated elsewhere on the web - google it and they'll come right up - there are multiple sources out th...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office
That Klast website is very, very wrong. See the chart I linked to earlier - GE was the highest attended Bond movie, with DAD second, TWINE third, and TND last.Die Another Day made more than GoldenEye, which meant Brosnan was more popular than ever with his last film

Re: Blofeld: A McClory rights Bond film?
It's not all terrible - Klaus Maria Brandauer is great, and there's some great dialogue. Fatima Blush is a lot of fun, too...Unless you want to see Bond kill a man by throwing a jar of urine at him... you are not missing much.

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office
The reason I keep banging on about the drop-offs is because I believe they have ominous implications for Bond 23. I disagree - QOS has dropped in worldwide admissions from CR, but that's not unusual for second Bond movies. Using Brosnan as an example - there was a drop in admissions from GE to TND ...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office
Yes, that means, if you take ALL markets together - total ticket sales for the entire world - which includes the US, naturally - the total ticket sales for the entire world is higher.

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office
I didn't do the calculations for the Brosnan films, but as I said, DAD sold around 2 million more than CR. So it is not true to say that Craig's films sold more tickets in the US than Brosnan's. And yes, I know the US isn't Bond's strongest market, I just report these numbers because they're easier...

Re: QOS Falls Behind DAD at US Box Office
in America, Brosnan remains more popular than his Bond successor Craig. I've never denied that - but the total gross for the Craig films worldwide is much, much stronger. That is, in ALL markets, US included, the Craig films are getting more admissions than the Brosnan movies. Worldwide, he's more ...

Re: Quantum Of Solace smashes Japanese record
Well, Boxofficemojo has put up QOS' second weekend performance at the Japanese BO up, and it must be said, it's held up extremely well. This week, QOS grossed $2.61m over the two day weekend. As mentioned before, last weekend's figure was $3.46m. QOS fell 25% - not a bad hold, really. Its two week t...

Re: Quantum Of Solace smashes Japanese record
I think you're misunderstanding my post - QOS did make $6.5m by the end of the weekend of Jan 25th, but the actual two-day take was only $3.46m - the other $3m was for previews before it actually opened - no-one inflated the grosses, but they did slightly exaggerate the report to make it seem like t...

Re: Quantum Of Solace smashes Japanese record
Yes, that's where the information from my post came from. I find them to be the most accurate box office site around.I'll take Box Office Mojo's word on this one.
