Re: Quantum Of Solace smashes Japanese record
Why is everyone saying that QOS made $6.5m on the opening 'weekend'? It didn't...its has made $6.5m since it's been playing, but the ACTUAL two-day (Japan does it oddly) weekend take was $3.56m, versus CR's $2.34m over the same time period (CR had made a total of $3.25 since it actually started play...

Re: "Quantum of Solace Becomes Top Bond of All Time"
They have names, numbers even ;) As do mine, but as I say, it's not of much help to either of us, since I doubt you'll reveal yours and I sure won't release mine - which is why I was trying to point to official sources as much as I could to avoid degenerating into he said/he said Hmm....I disagree ...

Re: "Quantum of Solace Becomes Top Bond of All Time"
Not a rumor, a trusted source. If they don't have a name, I'm going to count that as a rumor...I'll have to go with my own trusted sources, I'm afraid, and they match with what I'm stating. And I think we'll really have to agree to disagree on the marketing costs...I have my figures, and they don't...

Re: "Quantum of Solace Becomes Top Bond of All Time"
260m is from a in house source of actual production cost, not going into advertising. The production number has been continually massaged downward. Of course remember that the original numbers were that CR cost 70m, and it stayed at the number for quite a few sources. What Eon had meant to say of c...

Re: "Quantum of Solace Becomes Top Bond of All Time"
TND did good on its own, might have done better without the leviathan hogging the sunlight but it shouldn't be compared to Titanic. I don't know what the point of comparing them is. To say TND did well against a record smashing movie, fine. To say TND fought for his place and Quark hasn't, maybe bu...

Re: "Quantum of Solace Becomes Top Bond of All Time"
Nope - the budget for QOS was around $200m, according to Box Office Mojo - Variety reports a negative cost of $230m, but adds that that includes some print and advertising costs (It doesn't specify how much) - which is where the widely reported figure of $230m comes from. IMdb concurs - giving the b...

Re: "Quantum of Solace Becomes Top Bond of All Time"
Thank you! As far as QOS goes, I could have predicted that it would gross less than CR for the simple reason that almost every actor's second Bond does not gross as much as the first. For example: The Man with the Golden Gun's gross was down almost 40% on Live and Let Die (!) Licence To Kill's gross...

Re: "Quantum of Solace Becomes Top Bond of All Time"
As pointed out - Titanic was not a harm to other movies in the theaters at the same time - it was in a normal # of screens, and was posting solid, but unspectacular numbers. It was only the fact that it posted solid numbers for months at a time that gave it it's high numbers. Taking the US as an exa...

Re: "Quantum of Solace Becomes Top Bond of All Time"
It didn't. TND and Titanic only went head to head in one market - the US. Titanic's worldwide release was staggered throughout the next few weeks and months worldwide, as was TND's, and it was TND's worldwide gross that fell, not the US gross. (It fell more than $35m) Also, Titanic's presence in the...

Compared to TND, TWINE and DAD? Looks Oscar worthy in comparison.

Re: QOS out of US cinemas
It's still playing on in around 900 screens - Sony just doesn't report very often over Xmas and the new year, so they took longer to update. Same for the international market. However, www.the-numbers.com claims that it's still pulling in around $3m internationally with a total now of $380m, with Ja...
